Hi,
I have just taken over two Maine Coons, 18 months and three years old. I can see what I’m in for when they are four years old and fully grown. The male is already 120cms from tail to nose and wheighs eight nad half kilos.
All the best to all cat lovers,
Richard
Gettin’ ready to adopt one myself. Can’t believe it. I already have a large cat and I believe he is part maine coon because he is sooo large. Love cats - can’t wait to get my big ol baby, Oscar.
I was chuffed to bits to find this. I have seen the top photo before at a site where some ratbag said it was ** a fake.
Although I’m inclined to wonder whether they really ought to be as wide as they are long?
Does that prat up there think people have nothing better to do than fake fat cats? There are enough of those buggers in industry without having to fake them.
I had a Maine Coon Cat - Alexander, who was over 24 lbs. He wasn’t “fat”, he was just big!! In that large body was the heart of a sweet loving friend. When he landed in your lap, you always knew he was there. He is gone now but, when I close my eyes, I can still hear his chirp, and feel him lovingly nudge my chin for kisses. There is no finer breed! That large body holds so much more love!!
We have a really incredible Maine Coon Cat who is very smart and very loving. We love her soooo much. We would love to have a BIG Maine Coon like that as well. He looks so totally ultra-cool. We love Maine Coon Kitties to the max.
Maine coons average anywhere from 16-24 pounds, depending on whether they are male or female. They are prone to being overweight because they are already a very large breed, and because they are very laid back by nature. They are also prone to having diabetes and enlarged hearts, so it’s best to keep them on a strict diet - Iams or Science Diet. No table scraps or “treats” - they are by far the smartest breed, so don’t let the high-pitched voice or their sluggish ways fool you! They will love you like no other cat. Can’t wait to get my next one after January!
I have two Maine Coons (siblings) one is 18 lbs. and the other is 14 lbs. I believe the smaller was the runt of the litter. Neither of them has any fat to speak of on them. Further, they run each other around the house on a constant basis - and they are seven years old. We do put our very healthy plates on the floor after dinner (one demands his salsa and spaghetti sauce remains). Neither has any health issues. The fact is that they are sweet (never scratch anyone), talkative, and incredibly smart! Don’t assume “big” = “fat”.
I love the great big ginger ones! I have a cat named Jax that weighs about 14 lbs. My friends think he’s got to be part Main Coon. He is soooooo loving! Very friendly and sweet. Great big fat cats are the best!!!!!!!!
Wow, these cats are amazing-I WANT ONE!!!! Some are over weight yeah, but they are all just great big ‘Puddie Tats’ with lots of love to give! GEORGOUS!!!! XXX
I’m sorry but I can’t believe that someone loves FAT cats!!!!
I think that is animal abuse!!!
large cats is a different story I have a maine coon who weights 10 kilo and isn’t fat.
a fat cat has all kinds of health problems!!
I love big cats like the maine coon I’m a coon addict myself!
greetings from holland
Hmm… really nice cats, but there not all Main Coon… some of them are just fat… jesus. It’s a shame people don’t know how to be good to cats. It’s feeling sorry for these fat cats. OMFG get a grip!
Hi, i love big cats. Two years ago my big cat die. Now I got normal blend cat.
I wants to bought maine coon, but I afraid.I list that they’ve got problem with heart. It’s true?
I had a maine coon cat froud her on a fence post in ft. McMurray alberta she was born on my birthday and was the most intellegent and beautiful cat I ever owned she passed away at 17 1/2 and I still miss her came visiting for christmas to find the people here are proud owners of a new 9 mos old maine coon female . I almost cried . my hat goes off to maine coon owners I miss mine terribly

I understand you. I was cried from my cat. When he died he has got near two years. he wasnt’ maine coon, but he was very similar. Now i’ve got new cat. She is usal cat. She isn’t race. I like she, but my first cat was wonderful.I try don’t confront they but it isn’t esy.
ps. sory for errors, but i from poland and i don’t speak english very good.
Hey Basia, Don’t worry about the errors. I think we all can understand the love you had for your cat, what name did he have?
I know you will love the new one that has come into your life. We don’t own cats, do we? They choose us to feed them, cuddle them, tickle them, care for them, and anything else they want from us!
I got a big laugh from some of these messages. I LOVE M.coon personalities; so smart and dog-like in behavior. I think we have a small maine coon, ’cause he looks like the ones on web sites; but having another cat who is diabetic (after he got fat, in spite of the normal diet), I would advise the owners of the fat cats to put them on a diet or you WILL lose them earlier than desired. They can be big without being fat. I know how much you love these huge cats, but fat is unhealthy. Good luck!
The picture of the older man holding the big, white “TABBY” is a fake. Although I would love to believe it’s real. lol
The only Main Coons in the whole lot are the ones of the large, fluffy orange kitty. I’ve been to that families web site and that’s a picture of their family vet holding the same cat.
All the other cats are mostly Tabbies. The one in the young boys lap looks like it could be a Tabby/Abyssinian?
Either way, those kitties are obviously loved very much… just with constantly full bowl of food. lol
My wife and I are going to get a Main Coon from a local breeder we met at a cat show. Can’t wait to let him or her romp around our bed. lol
someone help me… I just adopted a kitten a few months ago and I know he’s a mutt (his litter was a mish-mosh of all types and was found in a new york city dumpster) but i believe him to be mostly maine coon… how do i tell??? He is only 8 months old and already weighs 8 lbs and has big paws with tufts of long fur that come in between his toes and paw pads. He also has a thick tail that looks like a feather duster and long fluffy fur on his chest, hind legs and bum only. He is dark charcoal grey all over. He acts SO much like a dog - we play fetch for hours! - and he has already learned tons of verbal commands. He uses his paws like hands, and his voice is super high pitched like a little squeak. He’s the most affectionate cat i’ve ever known… almost aggressively! He head butts me hard! how can i find out if he’s part maine coon?
To answer your question Gotham, i believe your cat may be a ragdoll or atleast part. My cat “Cuddles” is a ragdoll and she was heavier at a younger age like yours, she has long hair through her paws, under her neck, and by her butt! She has a darker colour fur on her back and face looking almost like a raccoon except with blue eyes. She is beautiful and her breed is known to be lazy but also with many dog characteristics. Her type of ragdoll is known as “seal-mitted” so look it up and compare seal-mitted ragdolls to your cat. Let me know what you think.
We have a large tuxedo cat–25 pounds. His vet told me that these cats tend to be large and that getting him to lose weight would only put a strain on his liver. He’s 10 now and healthy. We also have a Maine Coon, although he’s not a full breed. He weighs only about 12 pounds and is 17 years old and still going strong. I concur that Maine Coons are the most intelligent breed.
Anyone who couldn’t love something or someone because it’s “fat” is shallow and needs a wake up call!! I love my Maine Coon, and she is not fat at all, but she is only six months old and is bigger than my full-grown cats!!I love when she plays with water, uses her paws to feed herself, and most of all, when she sits in my lap and purrs herself to sleep. She is beautiful, smart, and very loving. If half the people in this world were like her, maybe we would all be happier.
OMG they are sooo cute….i cud gobble them up:) awww look at em….im going to keep coming back to see more new fat cats…Fat cats for ever!!! Ode to the fat cats!!! one day the fat cat will rule the free nation, hell to the fat cat, we bow to the……umm??? the furry one!
YESSSS, omg that kicks ass…..fat cats do rule and one day willl rule the nation, that is my dream. They are BADASS cats, come on u know they are. They cud really F u up man, i heard they even have these gangs and run around at nite and terrorize neightborhoods but thats hear-say. If they ever become motorized…u know like front and back wheels with a motor or sumthing u better watch out. Our state has initiated a task force to watch for these creepy cats in out beloved neightbor hoods…STOP THE FAT CATS!
those cats are fat and fake what is wrong with your face. does your face hurt, cause its killing me. yeh and fat cats dont you mean fat man at the top, he isnt even struggling to carry the weight of the fake fat cat. peace
I have a cat that’s part Maine Coon, her name is Rahja, and I just LOVE her to pieces! She’s 8 years old now, quite long, and she used to weigh 25 lbs, but she’s now 15 lbs because she got sick. I read somewhere that Maine Coons are known as the Gentle Giants, and that just describes mine to a Tee! They’re so cute and cuddley, even if they ARE heavy! xD
FAKE! I don’t think so. I have a three year old Maine Coon and he weighgs 22 lbs. Stretched out he’s about as long as my Lab. So try one on for size!!!
trying to contact anybody that has maine coon adult cat for sale or where i could find one. the ones i see on the net they are so huge that what im looking for. could anybody please contact as soon as possible with any information on how i could get one. thank you so much
omg. those cats are soo fat. why would anyone let their poor animal get that way. i mean i can understand if the cat has a medical condition and cant loose the weight. but they probly have diabetties. poor things.
Howdy all; I am ‘owned’ by a Maine Coon who is presently 3.5 years old and weighs 13.5 kilograms (29.7 lbs); of course I was worried that he was getting fat because it’s really dangerous for your cat to get fat (one of ours did and he now has diabetes and has to have insulin injections twice daily) but our vet assures me he is simply a REALLY big cat - apparently MCs dont stop growing until about 5 years, so who knows what he will end up weighing!
He comes to a whistle, we go for walks on a lead and he is really lovely. He gets a bit jealous of the other cats (I have 7 rescued kitties) but that’s because I think he wants me as ‘his’ only!
this is ridiculous, half of those r fake, i mean come on, their too fat to walk, the large one i can belive but those fatties are insane
